An 18th century oak grandfather clock with later fine carving made by Robert Scholfield of Rochdale. An inscription inside reads 'The clock case was carved by D.M.S and she wishes it to go to the Brother J Hovious'.
Robert Scholfield of Rochadle Snr worked from 1710 making some fine early examples of longcase clocks. He died in 1736 and four generations followed in this famous clockmaking family.
